What to wear to the gym: 6 women's outfits with leggings
Share
What should I wear to the gym? It is the question every training day. The good news: with good leggings as your base, putting together a comfortable, stylish outfit is easy. Here are 6 combinations that work, depending on your type of workout and your plans afterwards.
The 6 outfits
1. Total black for leg day
Black high-waisted leggings, a black sports top and flat trainers so you lift from a stable base. Black is slimming, hides sweat and gives off attitude. If your goal is glutes, seamless push-up leggings make a real difference in squats and hip thrusts.

2. Colour block with coloured leggings
Let your leggings take centre stage. A petrol green pair looks great with a white, black or beige top. Easy rule: if your leggings are colourful, keep the top neutral, and vice versa.
3. Hands-free running
For running: leggings with a side pocket for your phone, a breathable technical T-shirt and a light windbreaker tied around your waist. No bouncing bum bags. We explain why in leggings with pockets for the gym and running.

4. Yoga and Pilates in soft shades
For calmer classes, go for soft shades like lavender or grey, with a thin-strap top and a roomy sweatshirt for the end of class. Seamless fabric is ideal: it does not rub in any pose. More in seamless leggings.
5. From the gym to the street
High-waisted leggings + an oversized sweatshirt or roomy blazer + clean white trainers. It is the uniform of anyone who trains in the morning and gets on with their day. Grey is perfect here: it goes with camel, white and denim.

6. Winter training
Leggings in a dense, opaque fabric, a long-sleeve thermal top and a padded gilet for the journey there and back. When you arrive, take off the layers and train in comfort.
What your outfit should never be missing
- Opaque leggings: that survive the squat. See non see-through leggings.
- A high waist that stays up: so you are not adjusting between sets.
- The right size: neither too tight nor too loose. How to choose your size.
